Professional Counselors May Directly Submit Claims for Reimbursement to Certain Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance Programs Beginning in January 1, 2016

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan has announced that effective January 1, 2016, licensed professional counselors that participate in Traditional, TRUST (PPO) and Mental Health and Substance Abuse Managed Care networks will receive direct reimbursement for covered mental health services provided within the scope of their licenses.  Reimbursement will be at eighty (80%) percent of the respective network’s fee schedules, less any deductibles and co-payments.
